BEHIND THE SCENES

 

 

For a show to go on it takes many different departments of the society. A lot of the different departments are high profile, like costumes, choreography, music. Others however are not , like scenery, lighting, direction.

This part of our web site, hopes to show you a little bit more about what happens 'behind the scenes'.

It all starts when the society committee put together a short list of the shows, that it would be possible for us to stage. The short list is then presented to the whole society, and they take a vote on which one should be our next production.

After the show has been chosen, the committee will choose the person that will be the Producer/Director. The society has a pool of people from within our group that wish to have a go at the role of producer/director.

Then the Producer/Director will get the script and start to form a plan of what they want i.e. How the stage should be set. Where people on stage should stand and when they should move. The properties that they will need. How the costumes should look etc. They will then liaise with the people in charge of the various departments, and work out how to achieve the desired effect.
